About the event
Joel Mabus has been a staple of the American folk scene for over 50 years. Though often called a singer-songwriter, he defies the label. The son of a 1930s fiddle champ and a banjo-pickin’ farm girl, Joel was raised in Southern Illinois—steeped in Holiness hymns and Monroe-style bluegrass.
A National Merit Scholar, he studied anthropology and literature at MSU by day and gigged by night. Since then, he’s played every major folk stage in North America, blending mountain banjo, jazz guitar, tender ballads, and sharp satire. Learn more click here.
